Great Smoky Mountains National Park Cataloochee Valley 10-2016
Cataloochee Valley is nestled among some of the most rugged mountains in the southeastern United States. Surrounded by 6000-foot peaks, this isolated valley was one of the largest and most prosperous settlements in what is now the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Cataloochee was once home to a substantial Appalachian community and Cherokee hunting ground. The place is full of history!
Thanks to The wonderful folks at the Upstate Hikers meetup for reserving the Cataloochee Campground and the hike on the Little Cataloochee trail was in perfect fall color! It was a good two days!
